Requires protection from any hot sun. Shadehouse conditions are ideal.
Characteristics
Dark green, edged with purple. In the cooler months the new growth is flushed purple. The petioles are marked with purple.Intermediate. The margins of the medium size leaves are slightly undulated. The foliage is held fairly erect.N.B. There are two distinct types. Mulberry Wine No.1, as described on this page, has slightly broader leaves than type No.2 and the leaf blade is rather flat. The outer edges of some of the leaves of Mulberry Wine No.2 curl up and turn in towards the midrib. Possibly one is a seedling or sport of the other.
