Growing Requirements

Requires a well-lit situation offering the plant full protection from the hot sun.

Characteristics

Mid green, finely edged with orange. In the cooler months the new growth is heavily flushed with a combination of cream and shades of orange. The petioles are marked with orange. The margins of the very large leaves may be slightly to broadly undulated. The outer edges usually turn up (more obvious on the newer growth). The tips turn up. The foliage is held rather erect and may have a twisted appearance.

History

A seedling from Max Baldocks. N.B. A case of mistaken identity resulted in specimens of 'Galaxy' being sold in Australia (and occasionally in Hawaii) as 'Painter's Palette'. The plant featured in the 2004 edition of Cordylines A-Z as 'Painter's Palette' was in fact 'Galaxy'
