Growing Requirements

Prefers a situation offering the plant protection from the direct sun. Performs well in shadehouse conditions (70% green shadecloth is ideal).

Characteristics

Dark green edged purple. In the cooler months the new growth is flushed with soft mauve to purple. The colour darkens as the leaves mature. There may be some traces of white through the purple colouring. The petioles are edged with purple. The margins of the medium size leaves are slightly to moderately undulated. The outer edges may cup up slightly (more obvious on the younger growth). The tips of the newer leaves usually turn up. The foliage is rather stiffly held on moderately long petioles. The fruit is purple/red.
