what would be the best time to cut?

Hi Derek,
I gather you mean it is in a pot. Where do you live? If you are in Australia now is the time to cut it. Once the night time temps have reached 16 degrees C it is a good time.
You don't need to re-pot it, that isn't necessary, unless it is root bound. It will happily re-shoot. Don't forget to pot up the cane you cut off to make even more plants.

kristy is there any tricks to cutting according to what the moon is doing? something with the saps in it being up or down ? giving you a better strike rate? have you herd that?
